SSS Account Locked

SSS Account Locked. When your SSS (Social Security System) account is locked by someone else, it can be a very frustrating experience. There are many important information, benefits, and services provided by the SSS which are restricted by this restriction. The purpose of this article is to explain the reasons why SSS accounts are locked, as well as the common causes, and to provide a step-by-step guide for how to unlock your SSS account. Additionally, we will provide prevention tips to avoid future account locking.

What is the SSS Account?

To understand the process of unlocking an SSS account, let’s first briefly discuss what an SSS account is. In the Philippines, the Social Security System (SSS) is a government agency responsible for providing social security protection for its members. There are various benefits offered, including retirement, disability, maternity, and death benefits. With the assistance of an SSS account, members are able to access and manage their contributions, benefits, and personal information.

Account Locking Reasons

The reason that an SSS account may be locked can be attributed to several different factors. This may be due to a variety of reasons, including security measures to prevent unauthorized access to the member’s account or information that is incomplete or incorrect. It is important to understand these reasons in order to prevent your account from being locked in the future.

Why is my SSS account locked?

It is important to understand the reasons behind the lock of your SSS account in order to prevent similar problems in the future. There are a number of common reasons why your account may have been locked:

Incorrect login credentials

The most common reason for an SSS account lockout is entering incorrect log-in credentials multiple times. Using an outdated password, forgetfulness, or typing errors may cause this.

Unauthorized access attempts

The SSS system may initiate a lockout if the system detects multiple login attempts from a variety of devices or locations within a short period of time in order to protect users from unauthorized access. The purpose of this security feature is to prevent hackers or individuals with malicious intent from gaining access to your account.

Violation of SSS terms and conditions

Accounts can be locked out if they are involved in activities that violate the terms and conditions of SSS. A fraudulent activity, an attempt to manipulate account information, or a breach of the acceptable use policy may fall under this category.

Suspicious account activity

The SSS account can be locked out if abnormal or suspicious activity occurs, such as sudden changes in personal details, financial transactions, or access to sensitive information. The purpose of this investigation is to find out if there have been any security breaches or identity thefts.

What to Do If Your SSS Account Has Been Locked

Your first step should be to calm down. Almost all SSS transactions are now conducted online, making it possible for you to unlock your SSS account without visiting the nearest SSS office.

The process of unlocking your account is almost the same whether you are an individual member or an employer. If you wish to recover your account online, the system will require your CRN or SSS number (or Employer ID number if you are an employer).

The CRN is the number located on your UMID card, whereas the SSS number is the unique identifier you are assigned when you register with SSS for the first time. The following guide will provide you with different methods of finding your SSS number if you do not know or have forgotten it.

How to Recover Your Locked SSS (Member) Account

If you are an individual paying member whose account has been blocked or is no longer accessible, follow these steps to reset/recover it:

  • Visit to the official SSS website and click on the Member Portal

  • Click the link that says “Forgot User ID or Password?”

  • Select how you want to retrieve your account
  • You can recover your account in two ways:

Option 1: Via your registered email address

You will receive a link to reset your account through your registered email address. You will be asked to provide your CRN/SSS number and encode a captcha code if you select this option. Read this guide for information on how to retrieve your SSS number if you have forgotten or lost it.

If you are entering your CRN or SSS number, please ensure there are no spaces or special characters between the numbers. If you entered the correct number but received an error message saying that SSS does not have a record of your number, please try again. The system did not recognise my SSS number after three attempts, but it was eventually recognized after three attempts.

Option 2: Using security questions

  • The second option is to answer the security questions you have already set. It will also be necessary for you to indicate your CRN/SSS number before completing the security questionnaire.

Note: In my case, I was fortunate enough to have been able to set up two security questions while I still had access to my account. Please select Option 1 instead if you cannot do this before your account gets locked out.

  • Please check the email you received from SSS and click on the link to reset your password.

NOTE: If you can’t find the notification in your inbox, check your Spam or Trash folders. It may take some time for you to receive the notification, so please be patient. My experience was that I received the notification after almost 20 minutes of waiting. In the event that you receive an e-mail notification, you should be aware that the password reset link is only valid for the next 120 hours.

  • Create a new password

  • It is necessary for SSS to comply with the following criteria for it to accept your preferred password:
  • A password must contain between eight and twenty alpha-numeric characters.
  • There must be an alphabetic character in the first character.
  • Special characters should not be included in the password.
  • You must use a different password from your user ID.
  • Once you have confirmed your new password, click the Submit button.
  • A new password will be generated and you will then be directed to your account page to log in.

How To Recover/Reset Locked SSS (Employer) Account

Employers can retrieve their locked SSS accounts in the same manner as individual members, although the process is easier. It is only possible to reset an employer’s account through their registered email address, rather than choosing between two options. However, they must first provide their Employer ID number, which is not difficult to obtain if they have a legitimate business/company registered with SSS. You can recover your locked SSS (employer) account by following the steps below.

  • Go to the official SSS website and click on the Employer Portal

  • Please click on the link that says “Forgot User ID or Password? ”

  • Please enter your Employer ID number and fill out the captcha code.

  • Please check your email for the SSS notification and click on the link to recover/reset your password.

  • Create a new password

  • The new password will also have to be set by employers whose SSS accounts have been locked, just like when members’ accounts are reset. It is also necessary for the password to meet the exact requirements listed below.
  • A password must contain between 8 and 20 alpha-numeric characters.
  • There must be an alphabetic character in the first character.
  • There must be no special characters in the password.
  • Your password must be different from your user ID.
  • If you wish to change your preferred password, please click the Submit button. You will be directed to your account page and you will be able to log in using your new login information.

How to Unlock SSS Accounts Without Email

We have written the step-by-step guides above assuming that members still have access to the email accounts they used to register with SSS. Many members, however, are faced with the difficulty of regaining access to their locked SSS accounts, as well as regaining access to their email accounts. They will not be able to reset their passwords for their SSS accounts without access to their email accounts.

Follow the instructions below if you have lost your registered email address as an individual member or as an employer. The instructions were provided by the SSS Member Education Department during a recent webinar.

For Members

Even though SSS will not be able to assist you in obtaining access to your original email address, they will be able to assist you in obtaining a new email address. Thus, you will be able to reset your SSS password as soon as possible.

Please send an email request to either [email protected] or [email protected] to update your email address. If you would like to update your account email address, you can use the subject line “Request to Update Account Email Address” and follow this template:

Hi, SSS.

I would like to request that my account email address be changed or updated to [indicate your new address]. It has already been difficult for me to re-set my password for my SSS account because I have lost access to my original email address. The following are the details of my account:

[Enter your full name]

[Please enter your 10-digit SSS number]

[Enter your birth date]

Please find attached a copy of my UMID card as well as a photograph of me holding this same ID for identification purposes. Thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

[Enter your name here]

Don’t forget to include your information within the brackets provided. If you do not have a UMID card, you can attach scanned copies or photographs of two valid IDs that bear your name, photo, and signature. In addition, SSS members are required to take a photo of themselves holding the same valid identification for purposes of verification.

For Employers

For employers, it is somewhat more formal to update or replace their registered email addresses.
It is mandatory for employers to submit an official letter of request in order to update their registered email address with a new or active official email address, rather than sending a simple email request.
A scanned copy of this letter should be attached to the email message along with a copy of the latest L-501 Form and a copy of their valid identification.
Please send all employer account reset requests to either [email protected] or [email protected].

Tips for Preventing Account Lock

Keeping your SSS account from being locked is essential in order to maintain uninterrupted access to benefits and services. To avoid account locking, please consider the following tips:

Use strong and unique passwords

It is crucial to create strong, unique passwords for your SSS account to ensure its protection. Make sure your passwords are not easily guessable, such as birthdates or common phrases. Choose a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. To enhance your security, make sure you update your password regularly.

Be cautious of phishing attempts

Phishing is one of the most common strategies used by cybercriminals to trick users into divulging sensitive information. Be cautious when dealing with suspicious emails, text messages, or websites that claim to be from the SSS. If you are unsure about the authenticity of a source, do not click on unfamiliar links or provide personal information.

Keep your contact information updated

Make sure that all of your contact information is current in your SSS account settings, such as your email address and telephone number. This will enable the SSS to contact you promptly in the event of an account-related issue or notification.

Monitor your account regularly

Maintain a close watch on your SSS account to identify any suspicious transactions or unauthorized activity. Please report any discrepancies or concerns to the SSS as soon as possible. You can minimize your risk of account lockouts and unauthorized access by being proactive.
